Healthy Recipe for Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

This is probably the easiest recipe for perfect meatballs in tomato sauce. They are low-carb, gluten-free and great for keto diets.

Meatballs In Tomato Sauce – Recipe

Yields – 4 servings

Ingredients: 

Meatballs: 

  • 1 pound 85% lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  •  ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Tomato Sauce: 

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped garlic
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon dry parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions how to make Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Spray a large baking sheet with olive oil.
  • In a large bowl, use your hands to mix the ground beef, sour cream, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, and black and cayenne pepper.
  • Lightly oil hands and roll 12 balls
  • Arrange the meatballs on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a large, wide pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the onion and cook, stirring, 1-2 minutes, just until golden.
  • Add the tomato sauce, salt, dry parsley, garlic, black pepper, and cayenne and bring to a boil.
  • Dip the meatballs, spooning the sauce over them.
  • Cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Serve and enjoy
